On the first day of Christmas…

On the first day of Christmas my true love sent to me…the East Dulwich Christmas Cracker.

With cold, crisp weather on the cards this weekend, what better way to warm up than with hot roasted chestnuts, mulled wine and the best of local festive cheer!

Shopping locally has never been so important, with small independent businesses needing all the support they can get. We are lucky in East Dulwich to have an abundance of independent shops, cafes and restaurants, many of which will be joining together with the North Cross Road Market stallholders on Saturday 1 December 2012 to bring you and your families a day of Christmas shopping with carol singing, street performances and, above all, festive food and drink.

There will be roasted chestnuts and mulled wine for sale in the market, alongside the usual array of food stalls which include Mootown Cheese (try the Perl Wen or for something a touch more gutsy the Bermondsey Spa), Viet Van Man, Dogfather Diner, Mother’s Dumplings, Pie in the Skyz, Blackbird Bakery (their crumble topped mince pies are 60p each or 6 for £3 and will suit the sweet toothed amongst you), GG Sparkes and Comfort & Joy. Some of the local shops will be offering refreshments of mulled wine, mince pies and fizz (including ED Warehouse, Old Villa, Lordship Lane Carpets & Oliver Bonas) and the wonderful Hope & Greenwood is offering a 10% discount over the weekend.
