This Christmas, the gift shop at Dulwich Picture Gallery has taken inspiration from current exhibition The Amazing World of M.C. Escher, on display until 17 January 2016.
A master of optical illusions and impossible realities, Escher’s iconic prints and drawings have inspired a range of unique gifts at Dulwich Picture Gallery this Christmas. The range includes an exclusive Metamorphosis silk scarf for her (£75) and Metamorphosis-inspired woollen scarf for him (£65) as well as mind-bending puzzles and games for the kids. There’s also a limited edition Lego model of the Gallery (£35) and a build-your-own imaginary architecture kit Archiville (£35), for budding architects and admirers of Sir John Soane’s classic design.
There’s also geometric-inspired jewellery by Wolf and Moon and an Alhambra tile trivet (£9.50), reminiscent of mosaic tilings at the Alhambra Palace which inspired Escher’s tessellations. Why not veer from the conventional Christmas trappings with an ‘Infinite Tree’ as your centrepiece (£36), or send an exclusive artist-commissioned Christmas card, Escher Star (£6.50 for a pack of 5), voted ‘top arty Christmas card’ this year in Time Out.
